Justin Kehr
|
|
Justin Kehr has been a student of drums and percussion for almost 30 years. Beginning with a single snare drum in grade school, he graduated to a drum kit a few years later.
As a member of his high school drum line, he had the privilege of traveling to Hawaii, where the band played at the Hula Bowl All-Star game in Kauai; a military base ceremony honoring veterans on the Big Island; and the Annual Starlight Parade in Honolulu.
Soon after graduating high school, he would be playing shows with his first professional band, in various States throughout the North Eastern U.S. Meanwhile, upon further persuing a career in music, Mr. Kehr began attending classes at York College of Pennsylvania in 1994.
He then went on to earn his associate's degree in 1999, before relocating to California, where many other opportunities awaited him.
While co-fronting his band "Spent" on vocals, guitar, and drums, Justin was excited to be featured on MTV's House Of Style in the spring of 2000. By the time they were ready to enter the studio to begin recording their 2004 release, "Anything Right" the well known Southern California folk rock band, "The Will Edwards Band" invited Justin on board to serve both as studio session drummer, and touring drummer for the band.
Since that time, Mr. Kehr has had the opportunity to teach drums and percussion, as well as guitar, professionally in San Diego. In 2003, in addition to beginning to teach privately, he worked with the Clairemont High School (the inspiration for the 1982 movie "Fast Times At Ridgemont High") band, serving as both field battery composer, and drum line instructor.
Not long afterward, Justin was invited by friend and drum student Brian Murphy, to explore his most favorite and challenging musical genre, Latin jazz, with the Band "Little By Little". Along with teaching both drums and guitar, Justin has just finished recording his Debut solo Album "Dubioso" which is now available, and which you can hear samples of by going to www.cdbaby.com/justinkehr
