At age 4, Jennifer Clymer was taking piano lessons with a local private teacher. In elementary school, she took up the flute and at age 17, she was accepted into the Aaron Copland School of Music, part of Queens College in New York. Along with learning how to conduct and compose, she continued adding instruments to her repetoire by taking up clarinet, saxophone, guitar, and singing. In 2004, Jennifer graduated with a BA in Music Education. Throughout high school and college she taught private lessons and held annual recitals for her students with up to 15 performers. After moving to Pennsylvania, she got a job teaching Music enrichment (as well as Phonics and Math) in a local Kindercare. Jennifer has always been very big on teaching children of all ages and even though she does highlight the importance of practicing and theory homework, she believes that learning an instrument should be enjoyable and affordable! There are contests throughout the year for practicing and awards are given out at the annual summer recital. Along with the theory behind the music, Jennifer teaches performance of the instrument focusing on the technique. Something Jennifer likes to emphasize is that all music is composed from some emotion and it should all be played with emotion. Every style is taught from Baroque and Classical to pop! What is your favorite style of music?
