Todd Hepburn began playing piano at age five, and plays ragtime, a dusting of boogie-woogie, a major dose of honky tonk, blues, jazz standards, songs from the hit parade, the great American songbook and spirituals, a veritable musical gumbo. He has performed on many of the riverboats on the Ohio River, playing the piano and calliope. He has performed and acted as Master of Ceremonies on the Cincy Blues Fest Piano Stage many times. He toured around the world while still in high school and has performed across the United States. Todd has performed at Tall Stacks several times, and was one of the last to perform at the Emery Auditorium before it closed back in ‘99, with a ragtime set dedicated to Scott Joplin, until returning for a concert last spring. Todd can be found at weekly gigs at BrewRiver GastroPub on Eastern Avenue/ Riverside Drive, and Arnold’s, downtown, and he plays piano and accoridan with Tex Schramm & The Radio King Cowboys. He has performed live on Gary Burbank’s show on 700 WLW, WVXU Radio, and WNOP JazzRadio, and been featured in The Cincinnati Enquirer, Cincinnati Post, CityBeat, The Cincy Blues Society Blues Record and local TV Channels 5, 9, 12 and 19. Todd currently has students ranging from 7 to early teens. He brings different attributes to the table than more traditional piano teachers, and could help students with a less traditional approach, with an emphasis on chords and more popular music they want to learn. Todd also teaches Melodica, an instrument that is gaining popularity among students and performers.
