Paul Yoshida grew up in Japan where he began studying the violin at age 7. "I first developed an interest in the violin through the classical station my mom listened to. I remember being fascinated with the sound of the strings in a symphony, especially the violins; I would always listen for them even before I knew what a violin looked like. I began asking for lessons at age 3, but it took my parents a while to realize that I was serious." Paul has been teaching violin, viola, and general music theory in the Cincinnati area for over 10 years. He also enjoys performing in chamber music groups such as string quartets, trios, and duos for various occasions. Paul is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music where he completed his bachelor's and master's degrees in violin performance. "I teach my students how things actually work, as they are ready. My goal is to make sure they understand how and what to do in order to improve and excel. Therefore, my best students are those who are motivated and aren't afraid to work hard, not necessarily those who bring the most natural ability to the table."

  1. I adjust my teaching style according to the needs of the student, but my strengths are in teaching technique.
  2. I accept students of all ages, but I am not as experienced at teaching kids under the age of 4.
  3. My primary instrument is violin, but I also teach viola and general music theory as well as basic composition.
  4. If you would like to sign up for lessons please call me on my cell @ 616-889-9111. This is the only way to guarantee a lesson time.
