Greg Shreiner
|
|
Greg Shreiner has been playing guitar for over 30 years, and has enjoyed teaching both children and adults for over 15
years. He’s been a teacher at Menchey’s of Lancaster since 1999. Greg also teaches at his studio in downtown Ephrata.
His specialties are rock, blues, finger style, two-handed tapping, and slide guitar.
His goal is to expose his students to a variety of music and musical styles so they can discover what they truly enjoy
playing. It is his belief that each student is unique and has different wants and needs, so he caters his lessons to
suit the individual student and allows them to progress at their own pace. He incorporates theory and technique into
every lesson with a special accent on technique. Greg’s philosophy is that good technique is the key to playing any
style of music.
Greg has written his own method book that is incorporated into his teaching. He encourages and challenges his students
to go beyond their books, teaching them how to play music they enjoy, from classic to today's music.
He understands how excited new students are about learning to play. As a tool to enable his students to begin playing
songs within the first month of lessons he uses tablature, a six-line staff that graphically represents the guitar
fingerboard. As they are motivated to continue on and learn how to read and understand music, they will develop the
skills necessary to work out and create new music on their own, which is the ultimate goal in lessons. Greg can be seen
demonstrating the different instruments he teaches on his website. Click Here to Watch Greg Play
