My name is Valerie Adelung and I am 26 years old. My husband, Jason, and I have been married for 7 years and we recently moved to Lutherville from Dundalk.

I began taking piano lessons at the age of 8 and continued up through high school. Although singing from an early age, I began lessons in college. I received an Associate’s Degree in Music from The Community College of Baltimore County in 2006, and I am currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Music Education (specializing in Voice) at Towson University. I will graduate in the spring of 2009.

For the past three years I have worked at The Church of the Redeemer as a music director for a high school choir and an adult contemporary group. I also have served as their music director for the youth group, directing The Wizard of Oz, Grease, and The Pajama Game. I also worked at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church as a music director for the contemporary service, providing music leadership and accompanying on the piano. I recently left The Church of the Redeemer to take on full music leadership at St. Peter’s. I now serve as their music minister as organist, pianist, cantor, and choir director of an adult choir and a children’s choir, along with the previous responsibilities of the contemporary music director. This past year I also took on a position as a music teacher for a preschool and I recently was stage manager for an opera at Towson University.

Music is my passion, and I am always expanding my knowledge in this area, as it is important for a teacher to stay on top of the skills they are teaching to others. I am very patient and love sharing my passion with others.
