Kristin has a BS in Music Education from Duquesne University. She has studied extensively with John Curran, formerly of the Rhode Island Philharmonic (faculty at Brown University)and Damian Bursill-Hall of the Pittsburgh Symphony. Kristin has taught flute students of all ages, and in varied settings - from schools, to church, to music stores, to a private studio. She has also taught general music and choir at the elementary level, and has also worked with several children's church choirs in both RI and PA. Kristin has a wide range of performance experiences - both solo and ensemble - starting as early as high school: RI All State Band, PC Festival Band, Southern New England Honors Band, RI Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, Duquesne University Sympohonic Band, Duquesne University Wind Symphony, Duquesne University Orchestra, Duquesne University Contemporary Ensemble, Duquesne University Concert Choir, First Baptist Church Handbell Choir, City Flutes Flute Choir, SBK Flute Quartet, Fluting Music Teachers Flute Ensemble, Slippery Rock Baptist Camp Worship Team, many singing ensembles at Faith Bible Church, and many a collective venture including flute and guitar, flute and harp, flute/violin/cello, flute and recorder, and flute and trumpet. Kristin is looking to build up her studio after a brief hiatis. Teaching music truly is her passion. Her goal as a teacher is not to create imitators, but to shape musicians - students who not only can play, but can understand music, and who can learn to be their own best teachers (for when she is not with them while practicing, or later in life when they are still playing flute in their 80's :) ) * Students should bring their flute, any current music they are working on/have worked on, a smile, and a positive attitude to their first lesson.

  1. Kristin is also available to teach private or group music theory lessons and general music group lessons (elementary level). Please contact her for additional information on this.
