Mr. Sponenberg holds a B.S. degree in Music Education from Wilkes College and a Masters in Music Education from Eastman School of Music. He double majored in flute and clarinet at both Wilkes and Eastman and has studied under William Gasbarro, William Osseck and Joseph Mariano. He has 34 years of public school music teaching experience on all levels at Big Spring School District, serving 18 years as the music department chair and 14 years as the H.S. band director. He has taught privately since 1964 and given lessons to many district band students. Currently, he plays tenor sax with the Craig Sunday Orchestra and clarinet in the Dickinson College Orchestra & Band. He has also performed with various community groups including the Chambersburg Community Band.
