I've been teaching since 1979 when I graduated from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam with a Performer's Certificate and a Bachelor of Music degree. My major was education, and I taught in a public school for 2 years before leaving to continue my education.
Since the early 80s, I have taught privately. I accept students of all levels on woodwinds and up to intermediate levels in the brass family. I welcome adults as well as younger students.
One of the most important aspects of teaching is to determine a student's objectives. Some students want to advance as far as possible in preparation for further study at the university level, some want to play for fun and, often, children want study primarily to join the band at school. My goal is to tailor the course of studio study in order to successfully meet the student's goals.
