Jonathan Flory began studying music at age 4 with organ lessons and eventually became interested and focused on piano. He has studied music for 17 years and was accepted at Lebanon Valley College where he studied piano for 6 years with Dr. Dennis Sweigart, head of the keyboard area of LVC, and music theory with Dr. Eggert.
During his time of study with Dr. Sweigart he learned the importance of proficient technique, and this has enabled him to play some of the most technically challenging music ever written for piano. Over the years he has received many great complements from different teachers including being one of the most musically expressive pianist Dr. Sweigart has ever worked with, along with having one of the most natural technical ability.
Mr. Flory has been teaching piano for 8 years and has worked with students from age 5 up to older adults. He has performed at recitals, banquets, weddings, school plays, the Hotel Hershey Circular Dining Room, the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center, and is also invited each year to judge the area and regional teens involved piano competition. He is also a church musician and performs regularly as a soloist and accompanist.
Mr. Flory teaches his students how to sight read, mature technically, improvise, and understand theory. They also have the opportunity to learn different styles of music including Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Contemporary, along with having the freedom in learning music of their own choosing. Performance opportunities are available throughout the year, but are not mandatory.
