Emily H. Sheffer
|
|
Emily Sheffer graduated from West Virginia University in 2003 (summa cum laude) with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. After graduation Emily completed her Suzuki Method teacher training under Martha Shackford, and is a registered teacher for books 1-4. As of December 2009, Mrs. Sheffer completed the required courses to obtain Pennsylvania state certification in music education.
Mrs. Sheffer has taught private traditional and Suzuki violin lessons in West Virginia, Pennsylvania and New York. From 2004-2005 she operated her own studio and taught lessons at Ellsworth Music in Charles Town, WV and at the Cumberland Valley School of Music in Chambersburg, PA. In March 2005 Emily relocated to Manhattan and taught private Suzuki lessons at the Suzuki Program Music School in Mineola, NY and Queensboro Community College, NY.
Emily has performed in orchestras directed by Keith Lockhart, Andrés Cárdenes, and Gunther Schuller. She was a member of the New Amsterdam Symphony Orchestra, and has performed in Carnegie Hall. Currently Emily is student teaching and performing in the Lancaster Area. She enjoys spending her free time with her husband Nathan, and their daughter, Anya.

- Materials for First Lesson: Beginning students should bring a notebook, pencil, and instrument to their first lesson. Continuing students should bring all materials used in previous lessons.
- Please bring some form of payment along to your first lesson. Cash or checks are both accepted, but Mrs. Sheffer cannot take debit or credit cards.
